Don't be fooled by

this sweet face

He may look innocent but anyone who has spent a day with Ben knows what kind of tricks he has up his sleeve. While he is a sweet little boy at times, he is also a mischief maker. The same little boy who gives hugs out of the blue while whispering "I love you," is also the one who runs down the hall while Jack is sleeping, YELLING "wake up baby Jack. Wake up!" The one who has already learned to ask dad before mom and then when he asks mom and I say no, he says "but daddy said yes." The worst is when he uses his sweetness while being stubborn. Like when you tell him to do something and he says "no thank you." But then there are times when he will just yell out "NOOOO!" When we leave him in his bed at night, good luck getting him to stay in there. We find him rolling around the hallway, laying on the stairs or playing with his toys. When it's time to get up in the morning, he gets cranky and hides under the covers. He spends all day running around like a ball of energy. Sometimes he is as nice as he can be to his brother. Sharing his toys, getting excited when Jack does something new, tell me how much he loves his little brother. Other times he knocks him over, takes toys away from him, steals his food. He is honest and blunt. Ben will tell you like it is (I wonder where he gets that from). If you're trying to have a conversation with someone else, Ben will do everything he can to make sure it's not easy. Like any three year old, it's all about Ben. And around here, it is all about Ben (and Jack). We love Ben for everything that he is. For the many wonderful qualities and the few challenging ones.

More pictures from our trip

The camera hasn't been getting much use lately. Therefore, you're getting some pictures from a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't posted yet. These are from our trip down to see my family.

Jack and Luke. No idea what Jack is doing here but he doesn't look happy.

Her boys make her happy

As cute as he can be with a personality to match

Really, could they be any cuter?

Amazing that they are all looking at the camera

I can't believe how much he is growing up

The boys and their favorite (and only) cousin

Ben talks about his cousin Luke often and was very excited to see him. I love seeing all the boys together. There are many years of fun to come with those three. Ben will think he is the leader and try to boss the younger ones around. Maybe Jack and Luke will work together to stop him.

Great Grandparents

Ben and Jack are so very lucky to have so many wonderful great grandparents. Drew and I both grew up very close to our grandparents and enjoy seeing them take such pride in their great grandchildren. Last weekend while we were down south, we got to spend some time with my grandparents. It was their first time seeing all three of their great grandchildren at the same time and I am pretty sure they loved it. Trying to get a picture of them all together was a little tough though.

From the mouth of Benjamin

Last night Ben looks at me and says "I love you mom. You are my sweetheart."

Tonight he tells me "You are smart mom. You are part of my family."

This afternoon, Jack started crying while him and Ben were playing together. I asked Ben why Jack was crying and he said "because I hit him on the head." (sure enough, he had a big red spot on top of his head)

Regarding his fear of using the toilet, he says "I can't use the toilet. There's dinosaurs in there."

When he doesn't want to eat something, he claims that "it's too spicy." There is no sense in arguing with him that it's not spicy. He'll just keep saying "but it is spicy."

One early morning a few weeks ago, Ben came into our room as Drew was getting up so he put Ben in our bed. He put him on the opposite side of the bed than where he usually lays so half asleep Ben yells "this isn't my spot!"

Sometimes Ben will say to me "oh mom, you scared me. You're like a monster."

Oh my Jack

You are so cute
