Jack's version of the abc's

They're growing up

Lately, every day has made it clear that there are no more babies in this house. Wow, they are growing up fast.

In less than two month, Ben will be five years old. Seriously, how did that happen? It wasn't long ago that my sweet little Ben was a tiny baby. Now he goes to school every day, has lots of friends,  talks about when he gets older and occasionally he gives us attitude. He questions everything we do and say. He thinks he knows everything. He remembers everything. He amazes us every day with something he does. He's convinced that if he eats all of his dinner that he will grow that night while he is sleeping. At the park, he's letting go of his fear and trying new things that used to scare him. He is still scared of the dark at night though. The older he gets, the more stubborn he gets but he is also easier to reason with. He loves affection and if he's having a rough time, hugs will make him feel better. Ben loves playing with his brother (when they're not fighting).

Jack talks now! After months and months of silence, we can't get him to be quiet now. Our two and half year old also has a sense of humor and loves to do silly dances. He also has a little temper and lets you know when he is mad. Yesterday it came in the form of clawing me with his nails. He fights Ben for my attention and never wants Ben to sit by me. My hair is his "security" blanket and he buries his face in it. Every day for lunch he asks for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He likes to line his cars up when playing with them. He is learning the abc's and doing pretty good at it. He likes it when we sing songs in the car. He fights me every time I change his diaper but has no desire to really use the toilet, though he pretends he is peeing in the toilet when he sees Ben doing it. He misses his brother every morning and loves picking him up from school.

Now that Ben and Jack are getting older, Drew and I are enjoying them even more. Taking them places has become easier. They make us laugh all of the time. We think they're pretty awesome little guys.

Little monkeys

Swim lessons

Ben did 12 weeks of swim lessons this summer. He started the summer terrified of the water and ended up loving it. He's still not swimming on his own but he came a long way as far as his confidence in the water.  Jack did 5 weeks of parent/child swim lessons, switching off with Drew and I going in with him. He was a huge fan of the pool as long as we were in there with him.

Colorado

We spent labor day weekend in Colorado for my cousin, Gabrielle's wedding. It really was a great trip. The boys had so much fun being with family and they got so much attention and love.

The boys enjoyed holding Elie
