A date for two

The other night I was laying in bed with Ben as we talked about different things. We talked about how our day went and what we would do the next day. We talked about his friends at school. We of course talked about boy things like superheroes and pirates. Ben threw in some potty humor, his favorite thing to talk about. Then out of the blue, Ben says to me...

"Mom, I want to take you out"

I said, "you mean like a date with you and me?"

he responded with "yes, a date. Somewhere gluten free. It has to be a nice place mom."

You can bet that we'll be going on a "date" soon, just the two of us.

Tonight's post is brought to you by the letter "B"

Brothers

Bath time

Balls

Bossy Ben

It's just another typical evening for Ben and Jack

Jack's the one that started this game

I love the interaction going on between the boys here

This picture was taken right as Drew was walking into the bathroom
(he had just gotten home from work)

Little explorers

We left the house this afternoon with the goal to find somewhere "new" and explore. Our journey took us about 2 miles from our house to Veteran's Park. Although we've driven by here a lot, it was a first for us to stop there and walk around.

Two brothers who want to do everything together

don't mess with these two

They had tiles with names of World War II veterans and I was surprised (and a little creeped out) to find this one

shortly after we arrived, we ran into one of Ben's good friends from school, Aiden. The rest of our time at the park was spent playing with him.

What beautiful weather we had today. It was good for all 3 of us to get out and breathe in the fresh air.

You never know what you're going to find...

in the pockets of the Hanson boys when doing laundry

Luckily, we haven't had any laundry casualties caused by things

like crayons or gummy type foods

I have found a lot of toy cars and tissues though

I've heard stories about when Drew was younger

his pockets would have trinkets in them, often little rocks

his mom would find them when she was doing laundry

I had to laugh tonight when I was pulling clothes out of the washer

and heard the sound of plastic toys hitting each other

I assumed it was in Ben or Jack's pocket

nope, the noise was coming from Drew's pocket

inside I found two plastic nails/screws from the boy's tool bench

Some things never change (and I like it that way)

I need motivation

Lately (as I'm sure you've noticed), I haven't been blogging much. I don't know if it's because I don't have much to post about or lack of desire to get on the computer and type away. I have found that the longer I go without new posts, the harder it is to get back into it. Kind of like going to the gym, the longer you stay away, the harder it is to get back into working out. Anyways, I need some motivation. We've got a new month starting next week and I need help bringing you guys back in. Any suggestions? Picture of the day? Daily recaps on funny things the boys did? More videos? What would you like to see?

So my few readers out there, please tell me what I can do to bring excitement back to our blog... thank you :)

This is my daddy

Every Friday, Ben's class has show and tell. For a few minutes, all of the children bring out what they brought to share and they get to show their friends. For months, Ben has been asking Drew if he can bring him for show and tell. We finally arranged a time when Drew would be home so that he could go into Ben's class. What was supposed to be 15 minute presentation ended up being an hour long. The kids in Ben's class really enjoyed having a "real" soldier come to their class. Drew showed them the different parts of his uniform, brought his back pack full of army things, let them all try a bite of a mre (meal ready to eat) and each child got to try on his helmet and get their picture taken with Drew. At one point, the teacher asked Ben if his dad had to go away a lot. Ben said "yes, and it makes me sad when he does. I love my daddy so much and I miss him when he's gone." It was all very touching to see Ben up there, so proud of his dad. At the end of the presentation, Drew held the flag while the class showed him how well they could say the pledge of allegiance.

New Year's weekend

Since we stayed home for Christmas weekend, we had decided that we would go to Fresno for New Year's weekend. We spent the morning opening presents with Loree and Cary.

A sweet little face that Jack has

Drew and I got to go on a real date that day for lunch. Surprisingly we didn't spend the whole time talking about the boys. It was so very enjoyable to spend time with just Drew. We spent the evening at Drew's grandparent's where the boys got to play with their cousins and open more presents.

This is his "I'm about to do something I shouldn't be doing" face

Drew loves his mom

A sweet moment between these two

Our play date with Sadie

Today we met up with my friend Madeline (a good friend from college) and her 9 month old daughter, Sadie. Jack and Ben both enjoyed her company and I think she was intrigued watching them. Here are a few pictures of the little ones. I got them from Madeline's blog so the quality isn't that great.

Handsome Jack

This was after his haircut last week. He was a happy boy with his lollipop. When I took it away from him, he threw a tantrum. It wasn't the first time that has happened. I think I have learned by now not to take away his lollipop.

Ben and Jack at the park

They could spend hours playing at the park. I would never last that long. It's a lot of work keeping an eye on both of them as they run around. Ben spent most of our time there today riding his bike while Jack prefers going on the slide over and over again.
