The last Picture of the Day: Halloween

Halloween has always been my least favorite holiday of the year. I've never been into dressing up and and everything that goes along with it. I decided awhile ago that I would put all that aside and try to make it fun for my kids. We've been gearing Ben up for today for weeks and I think it went pretty well.

We started the day with a Halloween festival. Unfortunately, it was a zoo there and very hot. The high was supposed to be 69 degrees today but it was more like 85. That meant it was too hot for Ben's jacket and hat. Those poor children that were wearing heavy costumes. They must have been roasting.

All of the stores has trick or treating for the children

I had to strip Jack down, it was so warm. I love how he is sitting here. Like and old man.

I had to get pictures of Jack wearing Ben's old pumpkin costume

I love this one!

I think it's impossible to get a good picture of them together

Time for trick or treating. Since Ben was a fireman, I put Jack's dalmatian jacket on him so he could be the station dog.

At the beginning, he was hesitant to go up to the doors but he quickly warmed up to the idea

Yesterday, Ben wanted to give his teddy bear, Drew Hanson (everyone is named Drew Hanson when you ask Ben) a bath.

Then Ben decided to jump in the bath

and then wanted me to dry him off like a baby

Picture/Video of the day: Day 29

While Ben was napping this afternoon, I spent five minutes following Jack around the with the camera. This boy is constantly moving.

Ben's new favorite thing to do now is play fireman. He has a dvd about firetrucks and they show how the fireman have toolbox's so Ben pretends that he has a toolbox. It's pretty cute to watch his imagination play out.

On Wednesday evening, the four of us went to a Halloween party thrown by the new mom's group that we joined. Ben was very excited to go to the party and talked about it for days. So by the time we actually went, he couldn't wait. We had a last minute costume change (more on that later) and Ben dressed up as a fireman. It was a very simple costume since Ben won't keep much on.

It was very warm in the room so the jacket and hat came off

Jack enjoyed watching everything around him

I don't know who has bigger eyes, Jack or Ben

If you look closely, you might see the new top teeth that just came through this week

Ben insisted that Drew wear the hat

Time to be private

For two years, our blog has been open to the public. I've always known it was pretty much just our family who reads it though. Unfortunately, there has been some funny activity going on lately and people I don't know are viewing our blog. I would rather only people I know have access to what's on the blog, therefore, I am making it private. To do this, I will be sending out an invitation to our readers which should give you all instructions on how to log in and have access to the blog.

This is how it should work:

For each address entered, the Google Account associated with that address will be given access to view your blog. If an address is not associated with an account, that person will be sent an invitation email with a link allowing them do one of three things:

  • Sign in to an existing account.
  • Create a new account.
  • View your blog as a guest (no account required).

In the first two cases, the reader will be given permission to view your blog whenever they are logged in to their Google Account. As a guest, they'll be able to continue viewing your blog through the link in the invitation email, but this will expire after two weeks. After that, they'll need a new invitation.

It might be a hassle to have to be logged in to view our blog but I feel safer knowing that only people we know will be seeing it. You can never be too safe, especially when Ben and Jack are involved. I will be sending out the invitations in the next few days. Of course, I will be sending them to our family members and if anyone else would like to be included, please let me know. I definitely want everyone we know to be able to see our blog so don't be afraid to let me know if you want an invitation.
