My little helper

After dinner tonight, we made chocolate covered strawberries. We were going to make them for Mother's Day but never got around to it. Ben was a great helper and dipped a lot of the strawberries on his own. I think he had more fun licking his fingers though. You will notice he is sporting out of control hair and a Van Halen shirt (a gift from his uncle Michael).

Jack hung out in his swing while we were busy in the kitchen

The finished product

Are you sure you fit in there?

We tried out the bumbo chair for the first time yesterday with Mr. Jack. His head control has gotten very good so we wanted to see how he would do in the chair. He did great and spent about ten minutes sitting up. He looks a lot chubbier in the picture than he is in real life.

I guess it looked like Jack was having a lot of fun because as soon as we took Jack out of the chair, Ben tried to sit in it. He was a little big for it but that didn't stop him.

So sweet and peaceful

One of the best gifts I could have gotten today came in the form of a 2 and a half hour nap from both of the boys, at the same time. As much as I love being with my boys, I do very much enjoy a little break every so often. Lately, it seems like they haven't been napping at the same time so I took advantage of it today when they did.

Happy Friday

What a difference

To show you how big Jack is compared to Ben when he was a baby...

The wheels on the bus

Saturday, May 1, 2010

After dinner yesterday, we all headed to one of Ben's favorite parks. He had a great time playing with his dad while Jack and I watched them.

Back in February, I posted pictures that were taken at this same park. I made a comment about Drew hitting his head while taking Ben up to the slide. Well, he did it again yesterday. This is right after he hit it.

Ben thought it was funny to stand at the top of the tunnel slide and yell down to me through it so he could hear the echo. He was such a big boy going down the slide all by himself.

So this is what sleep feels like

For the first time in over 6 weeks, we are actually getting uninterrupted sleep. We were lucky if we got a 4 hour stretch before Jack woke up to eat. This all changed Wednesday night when I decided to give him a little more in his before bedtime bottle. He ended up sleeping 7.5 hours that night. I thought it might have been a one time thing but Thursday night he went 8.5 hours. Last night it was almost 9 hours. He gets up right before 6:00, quickly eats and then goes back to sleep for another 3 hours.

This is very exciting for us. Ben didn't sleep through the night and in his own room until he was 5 months old (his situation was a little different though). I love that I can put Jack in his crib at night, swaddle him up and he will fall asleep on his own. I hope that this is a preview of what the future will be like with him. Ben seems to be a little high strung like his mother so maybe Jack will be more easy going like his dad.

It's just me and the two little ones this weekend. Drew has his drill duty the first weekend of every month. It's pretty much just normal work days for him and he is home by 6. It just makes for a long 2 weeks for him without a break. Since he couldn't take Ben to his gym class this morning, they went to one last night and then went for ice cream afterwards. They are so cute together.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I will put new pictures up soon and I have a video from yesterday that I need to upload.
